John Berryman: Dream Song 1

Huffy Henry hid the day,
unappeasable Henry sulked.
I see his point,—a trying to put things over.
It was the thought that they thought
they could do it made Henry wicked & away.
But he should have come out and talked.

All the world like a woolen lover
once did seem on Henry's side.
Then came a departure.
Thereafter nothing fell out as it might or ought.
I don't see how Henry, pried
open for all the world to see, survived.

What he has now to say is a long
wonder the world can bear & be.
Once in a sycamore I was glad
all at the top, and I sang.
Hard on the land wears the strong sea
and empty grows every bed.

F.Y.I.

I'm trying to figure out how to upload the online zine library from our last website to our new one, but I'm having the hardest time. If anyone wants to take a look and is more knowledgeable about such things, please do and let me know what to do.

Here's the link to the old library: http://galesburgzinelibrary.webs.com/zinecollection.htm

thanks!

Plans for the new year

It's still August, thankfully, which means school is still about a month away, but nonetheless, here are some plans for Zine Club for the coming fall:
- Will be starting the Zine-a-Month initiative to stuff campus boxes once a month with a zine of our choosing.
- Getting some spin racks for the library!
- Carnival of Clubs! Happens on Sept 10th @ 4pm. Great opportunity for us.
- Fundraising for trip to the Madison Zine Fest in Wisconsin.
- The trip itself.
- New storage system for supplies, because let's face it, what we have now is shameful.
- New supplies! Trips to Dick Blick, Joanne Fabrics, Goodwill and even the Antique Mall on Main are in order.
- Workshops, of course.
- End of term party!

We'll see how far our funds will stretch for the term, but there will be more in winter, so we're only just beginning.

Another goal or two for the year at large:
- T-shirts! Go-Van-Gogh's has been found out to be quite overpriced (just ask the Dance Squad), so I was thinking the clothes shop on Main St. The name, of course, escapes me now.
- Working with other clubs on campus--distributing zines for them/about them, doing co-op events and such. I think it'll be great for us to work with the other student clubs on campus--it'll get word out to the rest of the student body that we exist and also promote cohesiveness between student organizations (which I feel is desperately needed). If you have any contacts in any of the clubs, leave a comment here or contact me/devan via email
(kcarsell@knox.edu, debennet@knox.edu) with the information. I know people in Estudiantes Sin Fronteras, Alliance for Peaceful Action and Knox Writers' House to start with. But I'd love to surpass that.

All in all, I think we have a lot of great things we can do by our little renegade club. It'll take a lot of love and support, but we'll get it done.

chance et amour,
